How We Research
Every guide on Clumsy Plush starts with one question: will this fit your camper bed and suit the way you sleep? For an RV mattress, fit comes first, because a mattress that is 2 inches too long won't sit flat on the platform.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with the bed size
RV beds come in sizes that house beds don't, like 60 x 74 short queens, 72 x 75 short kings and 28 x 75 bunks. Some have rounded or cut corners.
We check the exact inches for each product and match it to the bed in the guide. When a size runs close, we tell you what to measure.
2. We compare the build
We look at thickness, the foam or coil layers, firmness, the cover and how the mattress ships. We also check headroom, because a thick mattress can crowd a low cabinet or a bunk rail.
Makers describe their own mattresses, so we name the brand for every claim. We note the warranty terms each maker gives.
3. We read what owners report
We look through what buyers say after a few weeks or months of use. We look for patterns, like a smell that lingers, edges that sag, foam that sleeps warm or a size that runs short.
One bad review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A mattress that suits a side sleeper in a short queen may score lower in a guide for a bunk.
Scores spread out on purpose, and a perfect score is rare.
5. We keep guides current
Products change, and some vanish from stores. We check model names and sizes when we update a guide, and we link only to new products, never renewed or used ones.
We skip any product with a known recall. When a guide changes in a real way, the "Updated on" date changes too.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab or sleep tests. We don't claim to have used every product we cover.
We don't promise that a mattress will fix pain or sleep problems. People with back pain often prefer a medium-firm feel, but a doctor is the right person to ask about ongoing pain.
